The Sillier Side of Chemists~CHF 2/27
Posted on | February 22, 2007 | 1 Comment
You know how silly those chemists get. No? Well this brown bagger at the Chemical Heritage Foundation will set you straight with a veritable nerd gag reel, one entirely composed of still images.
The personal papers of chemists often contain amusing and unexpected photographs along with the usual array of laboratory scenes and portraits. These images provide us insight into a chemist’s hobbies, interests, and personalities and show us an intimate side of important figures in the chemical science field. Who besides Carl Marvel and Wallace Carothers enjoys fishing? What do women in swimsuits have to do with buckyballs? What really went on at the Gordon Research Conferences? Which important CHF donor was quite the ladies man? What Nobel Laureate was a Sing-A-Long host? Find out the answers to these questions and more at the Brown Bag Lecture on 27 February.
The Chemical Heritage Foundation is located at 315 Chestnut Street.
