If you haven’t heard the hoopla, The Franklin has a new pirate exhibit (Real Pirates, May 31-November 2), which includes a huge, full-size replica of the Wydah, a real pirate ship from the golden age of buccaneering.

(Bonus, no Pat Croce! Ah, who am I kidding? He’ll probably be there anyway, I’m sure.)

To celebrate, they’re hoisting the Jolly Roger over the Parkway tomorrow, complete with comic opera:

Costumed Pirates, as well as performers from the Gilbert & Sullivan Union’s musical Pirates of Penzance, will be celebrating the launch of The Franklin’s newest exhibit, National Geographic’s Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah, From Slave Ship to Pirate Ship. As the jolly roger is raised, the G&S Union will perform “The Pirate King” in preparation for its upcoming international competition in Buxton, England.

Again, that’s tomorrow. If you see pirates on the Parkway on Saturday, it means something else entirely.
