Coolest backyard inventions of 2008…

Posted on | July 22, 2008 | 1 Comment

…so far, I’d guess.

From Popular Mechanics, nifty homemade doohickies and whatsits.

This dovetails into a train of thought I’ve been riding on how to encourage people to become more technically adept. Every high school (…every science museum?…) should have a junk lab where kids can experiment under limited supervision with tools, junk and electronics to make…whatever.

UPDATE: D’oh! This post was supposed to be on my personal blog, but I find it fitting. It stays.

I think my invention was pretty cool. I finished it in 2008. Although all the upgrades will be in 2009. I built a hobby based thermal injector. It makes things out of plastic. Figured I would post my backyard invention. It took me 8 months to make it. here is a video http://www.backyardengineer.com/xject.wmv I call it X-ject
