ACS Science Café 8/18 at Tir na Nog, a look at the global water crisis

Watch out Penn Science Café, step aside Café Scientifique, The American Chemical Society is coming to town next week and they’re bringing their own science café with ‘em..or..ém.
Experts will provide a close look at the global water crisis, as well as issues for the Philadelphia area water supply, at a Science Café Monday, Aug. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Tir na Nog, an Irish Tavern, 600 Arch Street, Philadelphia. The American Chemical Society (ACS), holding its 236th national meeting in Philadelphia Aug. 17-21, is sponsoring the free program, which is open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The speakers will be Jerald Schnoor, Ph.D., Co-Director, Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research, University of Iowa and Editor, Environmental Science and Technology; Chuck Haas, Ph.D., Head of Environmental Engineering, Drexel University; and Matt Larsen, Ph.D., Associate Director, U.S. Geological Survey.
Among the questions to be addressed are: Will future water shortages match our current gasoline crisis? What are the issues and challenges for Philadelphia water and watersheds? How will we meet our global, national and local needs for water quality?
The program is sponsored by the ACS Committee on Environmental Improvement and the Committee on Local Section Activities.
