As I posted yesterday, a couple of Philly science institutions have teamed to create another science cafe: Science on Tap. The more the merrier, I say.
But the way my calendar thingy works (and it is working again, I need a separate post for each entry. So here’s the one for Scott Gilbert, a Swarthmore biology professor.
Eat. Drink. Science.
* Who: Everyone you know or don’t yet know
* What: Real Scientists. Real Conversations. Real Bar.
* Where: National Mechanics
* When: The second Monday of every month at 6:00 pm
Science on Tap is a monthly gathering in Philadelphia for anyone who is interested in getting together with other people to discuss a range of engaging science topics.
Held at National Mechanics, a relaxed, convivial bar in Old City, Science on Tap features a brief, informal presentation by a scientist or other expert followed by lively conversation. The goal is to promote enthusiasm for science in a fun, spirited, and accessible way, while also meeting new people. Please come join the conversation!
Upcoming speakers and topics
* April 13: Brenda Casper, plant ecologist at Penn
* May 11: Scott Gilbert, biologist at Swarthmore
* June: speaker TBD
* July 13: speaker TBD
Science on Tap is sponsored by a consortium of four Philadelphia institutions: the Academy of Natural Sciences, the American Philosophical Society (APS), CHF, and the Wagner Free Institute of Science.
