Grand Opening of Marvels and Ciphers at the Chemical Heritage Foundation 3/5 5-8pm

[ March 5, 2010; 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] A place like the Chemical Heritage Foundation needs to think outside the norm to come up with creative events that will spur popular interest in chemistry — but they have been able to deliver, so far, with their fun First Friday events and an engaging, albeit small museum — so I’m really looking forward to [...]

Life-Size Operation Game at the Franklin Institute 1/30 10:30 am

[ January 30, 2010; 10:30 am; ] In what is possibly the weirdest conceivable (yet still tasteful, an important caveat) tie-in to Body Worlds 2, the Franklin Institute is creating a life-size Ben Franklin version of the Operation Game. Also note that The Franklin is teaming with MakePhilly and Hive76, which is a brilliant combination.

Early registration for the tournament is [...]

IgNobel Prizes simulcast at the Chemical Heritage Foundation. Oct 1, 7pm

[ October 1, 2009; 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ] It is the premier event in the field of science humor, the IgNobel Prizes.

Now, for the first time, you can view it live! Well, for the first time without taking a train to Boston.

Still, its a coup for the surprisingly decidedly hip Chemical Heritage Foundation.

Space Week 2009 at the Franklin Institute Oct 3 – 8

[ October 3, 2009 to October 8, 2009. ] According to the title of the Franklin Institute’s press release, Space and Robots will collide during World Space Week 2009.

Fortunately, space is fairly big, so I’m sure there is room for both space AND robots in…well…space. The event starts Oct. 3 with a robotics competition and ends on the 8th with a special edition [...]

This weekend in science (and The Blob)

It just occurs to me that a couple of links I added this week have to do with weekend events. It ALSO occurs to me that it will be a glorious weekend (albeit with a slight chance of rain).
In short, take the kids and go outside…and when IF it rains, you can go see [...]
